Adventure Craft Blog #62 Character Customization
Hi! We are now working on setting up character customization for the game so that you will be able to create your own unique adventurer!
Here is the character customization menu so far. You will have access to this menu when you start the game and also during the game if you decide that you want to change how you look. You will also be able to change how your party members look with the customization menu.
You will have several options when creating your character. You will be able to name them, select a skin color, face options (beards, mustaches, make up) eyes, and eye wear, and a hair style! Additionally you will be able to select whether your character is male or female! When making a character you will also be able to ignore the male and female trait filter and combine them to make whatever crazy or weird combo that you can come up with! Blonde Haired Bearded Ladies? YES! It's up to you!
Here are the current selection of skin tones that you will be able to choose from. I tried to keep the skin tones fairly realistic so you can make a hero that matches your nationality if you like.
To test out the system we have created 5 hairstyles, 5 eye styles, 5 face options so far. Once this is all working well, I will add TONS more options as well as color variations for each! In the retail version of the game you will be able to find additional character customization items in chests and shops and stuff. If you have any suggestions of items that you would like to see, "rainbow afros" for example, please let me know in the comments here or on twitter @iENDERi and I will put them on my todo list. Here's a quick collection of some of the current possibilities with what we have so far!
The Tactics System
I also recently completed the art for the "Tactics" menu! This menu (based on the gambit system from Final Fantasy 12) will allow you to "program" your party members to behave in specific ways in battle so that they can do things like heal you automatically when your health gets low or run away so that they don't die etc. I'll post more on this as it develops!!
Note: The current version of the Pre-Alpha demo may not include all the features mentioned in this develop blog post.
